Williams 68 in Oxford 2017 – Diana Lambert (Charlie Lambert)

Food: The Fuel that Kept Us Going

Charlie and I are kind of “foodies” and one of the pleasant surprises was the dining experience.

After spending some time learning the ropes, breakfasts at the Randolph Hotel were leisurely and enjoyable. Staff went out of their way to accommodate off menu requests. The best meal of the week was also at the Hotel. Locally sourced “rump of lamb” with puréed fresh peas and roasted veggies was so good that I took a picture of this dinner.

Dining on the rooftop of the Ashmolean was delightful. We went back for light lunch salads with unique and fresh ingredients…mixed Charcuterie…yum.
Within walking distance was the Red Lion Pub and the Covered Market, where we found the best blue cheese that I have ever eaten…Oxford Blue…

Charlie eats gluten-free and we found that meant fresh fruits and veggies instead of fake food. Anyone with food sensitivities was well taken care of…a problem when traveling.

The scheduled meals with the group were well thought out and the Oxford College dining halls made us feel that we were dining with Harry at Hogwarts.
Over all it was a wonderful experience. We are so glad that we went to Oxford.
